Lesson 97: Hyperbole

The word "Hyperbole" comes from the Greek language, meaning "excess." It means, "to exaggerate for emphasis or effect". “ 夸张 ”一词来自希腊语，意思是“多余”。 它的意思是“夸大以求强调或发挥作用”。 For example, you might say: "This suitcase weighs a ton." or "I've been waiting for ages." 例如，您可能会说：“这个手提箱重一吨。” 或“我已经等了很久了”。

Hyperbolic phrases are not intended to be understood literally. 双曲线短语不旨在从字面上理解。 They are intended to create strong feelings in the listener. 它们旨在在听众中营造强烈的情感。
