Lesson 128: Determiners


What are determiners? 什么是决定因素?

The word sounds very technical, but you have seen many determiners in action in these lessons! 这个词听起来很专业,但您已经在这些课程中看到了许多决定因素的作用!

Determiners are always followed by a noun, and they give us some information about that noun. 限定词后面总是跟一个名词,它们为我们提供了有关该名词的一些信息。

There are two types: specific and general. 有两种类型:特定的和一般的。


SPECIFIC DETERMINERS 具体决定因素

You use a specific determiner when people know exactly which thing(s) or person/people you are talking about. 当人们确切地知道您正在谈论的事物或人/人时,您会使用特定的限定词。

Specific determiners include: 具体的决定因素包括:

a / an / the (Lesson 18, The Shortest Word) a / an / the(第十八课,最短的词)

this / that / these / those (Lesson 50, Pronouns) 这个/那个/这些/那些(第50课,代词)

my / your /his / her / its / our / your / their (Lesson 7). 我的/你的/他的/她的/它的/我们的/你的/他们的(第7课)。


Examples: The dog barked at the children. 例子:那条狗对着孩子们吠叫。

These biscuits are very tasty! 这些饼干非常好吃!

Their car would not start. 他们的车发动不起来。

Have you seen my wallet? 你看到我的钱包了吗?



GENERAL DETERMINERS 一般决定因素

You use a general determiner to talk about quantities or numbers. Here is a list of general determiners, in alphabetic order. 您使用一般限定词来谈论数量或数字。 以下是按字母顺序排列的通用限定词列表。

Examples: Have you got any tickets for sale, for the concert tonight? 例子:你有今晚音乐会的门票出售吗?

Do we have enough food to feed everyone? 我们有足够的食物养活每个人吗?

I don't work from home every day. 我不是每天在家工作。


Numbers are determiners too, showing quantities exactly. 数字也是决定因素,准确地显示数量。

Examples: Sandra goes dancing 2 evenings a week. 示例:Sandra 每周有两个晚上去跳舞。
John works about 11 hours a day. 约翰每天工作大约 11 个小时。
