Lesson 158: More Words with Many Meanings: Q-R

QUESTION 问题 / 质疑 / 课题

question (n), questions (pl): A sentence or phrase used to find information. 用于查找信息的句子或短语。

Examples: The police asked the suspected murderer questions all night. 例子: 警察整晚都在询问凶手嫌疑人。

Why won't you answer my question? 你为什么不回答我的问题?

The politician carefully avoided answering the reporter's questions. 这位政客小心翼翼地避免回答记者的问题。

question (n): Doubt or confusion. 怀疑或困惑。

"in question" = The person or thing that is being discussed. 正在讨论的人或事。

"That's a good question." = A reply to a question when you don't know the answer. 当您不知道答案时对问题的答复。

queue (n), queues (pl): A line of people waiting for something. 一群人在等待着什么。

Examples: Is this the queue for concert tickets, please? 例如:请问这是在排队买音乐会门票吗?

There was a long queue of traffic stretching down the road. 路上已经排起了长长的车龙。

If you want tickets you'll have to join the queue. 如果你想要门票,就必须加入队列。

queue (n): A lot of people who want something.

Note: many English speakers say "fast" when they mean quickly. 注意:许多说英语的人说“fast”时他们的意思是“快”。Quickly is an adverb and describes verbs, fast is an adjective and describes nouns. Quickly 是副词,描述动词,fast 是形容词,描述名词。Lesson 34 taught you about adverbs. 第 34 课教你副词。

quit (v), quits, quitting, quitted / quit, was quit: To stop doing something. 停止做某事。

quiz (n), quizzes (pl): A game or competition in which you answer questions. 您回答问题的游戏或竞赛。

There are so many inane television quiz shows. 有很多无聊的电视问答节目。

rain (n), rains (pl): Water drops that fall from the clouds in the atmosphere. 水滴从云层中落到大气中。
