第 163 课:送气H

Lesson 163: Aspirated Hs

Three letters in English are aspirated. 三个英文字母送气。

This means that they are pronounced with a puff of air. 这意味着它们是通过吹气来发音的。

They are: D (duh), P (puh) and T (tuh). 它们是:D (duh)、P (puh) 和 T (tuh)。

The letter H is both aspirated (huh) and non-aspirated (uh)! 字母 H 既是送气 (huh),又是非送气 (uh)!

So its pronunciation, just by itself, can be either "haitch" or "aitch". 因此,就其本身而言,它的发音可以是“haitch”或“aitch”。

Some English speakers regularly skip aspiration: for example saying "otel" instead of "hotel", and "erb" instead of "herb". 一些讲英语的人经常跳过送气:例如说“otel”而不是“hotel”,说“erb”而不是“herb”。

But the generally accepted English rule is: aspirate all words starting with H, but leave the pronunciation of the letter H, just by itself, unaspirated. 但普遍接受的英语规则是:将所有以 H 开头的单词送气,但将字母 H 的发音单独保留,不送气。

So, say "hotel", "herb", "how", "however" as John pronounces them in these lessons. 因此,按照约翰在这些课程中的发音,说出“hotel”、“herb”、“how”、“however”。

But when talking about just the letter H, say "aitch". 但当只谈论字母 H 时,请说“aitch”。
