Lesson 169: Less or Fewer?

Here are two words that many English speakers find difficult. 这里有两个对许多英语使用者来说很难的单词。

If you are speaking about something that can be measured as a quantity and is decreasing, you say "less". 如果您正在谈论某种可以作为数量来衡量并且正在减少的东西，您会说“更少”。 Examples: People are spending much less on restaurants recently. 例子：最近人们在餐馆上的花费少了很多。 Frank had less white paint in his workshop than he thought he did. 弗兰克车间里的白色油漆比他想象的要少。 It's much less windy tonight! 今晚的风小多了！ John's new car uses much less fuel than his old one did. 约翰的新车比他的旧车耗油少得多。 Muriel is deliberately using a bit less sugar in the cake she's baking. 穆里尔在烤蛋糕时故意少放了一点糖。
