Lesson 53: Australian Sports

Sport is popular in Australia, although many more people watch sport than take part in it. The favourite sport varies between States. 体育运动在澳大利亚很受欢迎，尽管有更多的人观看运动而不是参加比赛。 最喜欢的运动因州而异。

The last five years have seen a notable increase in the number of women participating in traditionally men's sports, such as AFL. AFL RULES AFL规则

AFL rules are loose. Forward passes are allowed, as is treading on opponents' backs to take a good catch. This is called "taking a mark" and gives the catcher a free kick of the ball. Tackling often borders on assault. AFL规则宽松。 允许向前传球，也可以踩在对手的背上以取得好成绩。 这被称为“打标记”，使接球手任意球。 应对攻击时往往会遇到麻烦。

Each end of the oval playing area has 4 vertical goalposts, with no crossbars. The ball passing between the two centre goalposts scores a "goal", 6 points.
